When you talk about not having a certain berry, are you refering to the Salac Berry, or one that's currenty not available in Gen VI? The one that's not available, but would a Salac berry do the same thing? I didn't even know about that.

The Salac Berry activates when the holder has less than a third of its HP left, and it simply raises speed. But it's the most valuable resource for a Reversal/Endure combo. And now with the recent addition of Cheek Pouch, which significantly raises the users HP (I think it's half of max HP?) when a berry is consumed, it has more than one awesome use. At least, those are the best ways it can be used that I know of. But it's not going to cut it on such a sluggish Pokemon like Gigalith. No berry is exactly alike, so I can only assume that you're referring to a berry new to Gen VI that was just found in the beta, since I know of no other berry that raises speed. But I don't know a hefty amount of knowledge on exploiting games, or what is currently not available but exists in X/Y's data.

It's whichever one was given out in an event in Gen V. I think it raises priority, not Speed, but could be wrong.
So the berry idea is a bust for Gigalith, lol. I'm actually having nice success with it so far in the Battle Spot, though. People just aren't expecting me to start off with it, so most of the time, I get two free hits in thanks to Sturdy. I still kinda want to try Steelix just to see how much more success I can get with it. The rest of my team's getting there, slowly, lol. Still playing around with different ideas for party members. ^-^
Thanks for all you guys' help!! It's very much appreciated!

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see how Game Freak wants to distribute that in Gen VI. And it's been around since Gen IV. I got one on an event Regigigas.

Gigalith is actually turning out to be one of the best members on my team, lol. I might actually try to find a replacement for Aerodactyl...
Custap berry! Yes, that was it! hahaa. Hopefully they'll distribute it somehow!

Aerodactyl has always been a pain to me in the Battle Frontier, and I thought it would be more used online now that it has a Mega Evolution. Gigalith was my only Physical Attacker in my playthroughs of Black 2, but that didn't stop it from being one of the weaker ones on my team. That's against Pokemon like a sluggish Magmortar, Justified Lucario that uses special attacks, and a Tinted Lens Sigilyph. I thought that if it didn't do well in-game, it wouldn't be much better competitively. Maybe you'll be that guy who made Gigalith popular again..like Tamashii said in her video. Maybe...

I'm bumping this topic since I think it can help other people who are trying to get into the competitive field.

The competitive battle scene is something I generally avoid because some playera take it far too seriously. I don't know - or care - what a "sweeper" is, or why I need IVs, I just want to battle using a team of my favourites. But a team of Pidgeot, Scyther, Chesnaught, Kingdra, Jolteon, & Arcanine will usually get punished and swept aside by a team of pseudo-legendaries - which is what most a made up of these days.

If you don't want to get swept by psuedo legendaries, build a lower tier team and you won't have that problem lol

I just want to battle using a team of my favourites. If I just battled with my faves (one of which is the almighty Vivillon) against irl people, my team would get killed in like two seconds, lol.

For me, the fun, and sometimes the challenge, is finding ways to be successful while using my favorites.

I was just giving an example with Vivillon, but I suppose if even it can sweep Diantha, there might be hope for my favorites, lol.
