Sorry, I didn't see your post when I was on earlier, and I had to leave suddenly. GoJosh, elichevalier, and potential entrants, do you like the idea swampert12894 had better than what I currently have setup for the mixed tournament conditions, or is the limitation of no more than 2 OU and no more than 3 UU enough diversity? I'll take your idea better E.T. cause I've already got most of my team set up, don't wanna change a lot around haha also I'm not even sure who is in what tier, just OU If you go to Showdown's team builder, it shows what Pokemon are in what tier in the area where you pick Pokemon for your team. Just set the tier to OU, and you should be able to see a list of Pokemon from OU and down. For this tournament, I would consider Board Line Pokemon to be a part of the tier that is above them (for example: Boarder Line between OU and UU would be considered OU).

I like your idea, E.T., and I don't mean to bash it or glorify my idea. But I feel like if we had two thirds of the Pokemon be above the RU tier, there would be little to no room for the other two Pokemon to make an impact. With my idea, there would be much more room for each Pokemon to support each other In a unique way. A big thing about OU is that some of them rely on each other. Obvious example is weather-reliant Pokemon like Politoed, Swift Swim Kabutops, and Choice Specs Surfing Raichu. If there were a small amount but not too many of commonly used Pokemon, which I define as UU and above, I think that new strategies would come into play to take advantage of each other without being clichè. I'd love to see a wall with yawn keep spamming yawn to make the opponent switch through dozens of entry hazards! :D. I could only do that with a Galvantula (OU) and a Slurpuff (which I assume is Never used, even if no such tier exists in Smogon's case, yet.). Oh, and the reason I use those examples is because a friend and I had a mirror matchup where those two Pokemon were in it. And even though 3 or 4 of our Pokemon were OU, Slurpuff was his biggest threat. :P. I'd LOVE to experience that again! If enough people want to make the tournament more diverse by including fewer Pokemon from the upper tiers, I don't have a problem with changing the rules again. However, I am concerned that if I used something like your idea, for example, there may not be very many people who have or can build teams that met that criteria by next week. Of course, if there is interest in this, but time is the problem, I can always give more time for signups.

elichevalier GoJosh swampert12894Well, we have reached the signups deadline, so I'm going to present these three options for how we can proceed: 1. I can join as a fourth person, and we can do a round robin style tournament (everybody battles everybody; best record wins). 2. I can extend the deadline for another week to see if anyone else joins. 3. We can forget about the whole thing and go cry. What do you guys want to do?

Round Robin, although we haven't decided on a set battle tier-setup.

The teams specifications will be the same:
OU rules still apply, but your team may not have more than 2 OU Pokémon, and your team may not have more than 3 UU Pokémon. For example, a team with 2 OU, 3 UU, and 1 RU would be acceptable.
We will battle each other in single 6 vs 6 Wifi battles. The person with the best record by Tuesday, May 27th wins. Records will be updated on the original post. Does that sound good, or did I forget something?

I'm cancelling this tournament since has become apparent that no one wants to participate.
