Out of curiosity, does anyone have a copy of the original Gold, Silver, or Crystal versions with its original (still functional) internal battery? The battery in my Gold cartridge lasted a long time, but I recently discovered that it finally died because my game can't retain a save file anymore. :( So, now I'm playing through Platinum again instead.

About a year ago, I had to fix the internal battery in my Silver version, just for the purpose of evolving some Pokemon on My Crystal version. It took me 2 days. I can't find the picture that I took, but there was a yellow plastic ring around the battery, something I saw in no examples shown to me before. Saudering away the attachments and unscrewing took me longer than usual...
I bought my Crystal version from GameStop back in 2004 or 2005, so I can only assume it's never been fixed. My Yellow version was something I inherited from my cousin, who got me into Pokemon, back in, like, 2004. But my blue version still needs to be fixed, my silver version got fixed, and, well, I have stories about my Gold version that I'll tell later...

My Yellow version still works. I don't have a lot of motivation to try to fix my Gold cartridge though since I can't trade anything to Gen. 3 anyway. Now I'm curious about what happened to your Gold version.

I haven't forgotten about this....I just need to do it at a time where I have access to the computer instead of my phone. :/

Is it even possible to find a game with its internal battery not run out? lol

Is it even possible to find a game with its internal battery not run out? lol It's probably possible but not likely. I didn't notice that my battery had died until about the time I started this thread. I think I got my game about 10 years ago, and I'm not sure when Nintendo quit making cartridges, but I would think that if there are any "original" batteries that are still working, they're probably almost dead. I was just wondering if anyone still had one that actually worked.
