This will seem like such a noob question to some of you but I expect some other people don't know either so
What are Pokemon IVs and EVs? And how do you train either of them?

In short, EVs are Effort Values that a Pokemon can earn by defeating Pokemon. Each Pokemon is worth a certain number of EVs when defeated. There are EVs for the primary stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. A Pokemon can have 510 EVs total and a max of 255 in one stat. To give you an idea of the impact EVs can make, 4 EVs are worth 1 point in a particular stat when a Pokemon is at level 100. Therefore, a Pokemon with 252 Attack EVs at level 100 would have an Attack stat 63 points higher than an identical Pokemon with 0 Attack EVs. IVs are like a Pokemon's genes. The IVs are a number 0-31 given to each of the main stats mentioned above. When a Pokemon is created in game and given IVs, it always has those IVs. There are a few things that you can do with Pokemon breeding to get Pokemon with better IVs.
