For the radar, beat the game, then talk to one of the assisstants in Sycamore's lab. They'll give it to you :)

Shinies can be found in different ways, best way is to chain using the Pokeradar or I heard Safari has a simpler shiny rate. Also heard chain fishing is super easy!

The Masuda method is pretty good, but you need to put a lot of time into it to get a shiny from it. But sometimes you get lucky and get one really quickly, like I did. A shiny Honedge in 23 eggs!

Heard loads of rumours going around about Tipping people giving a higher shiny rate...but no official confirmation or coding confirmation from hackers yet :/

I don't know if it is just luck or something, but my brother caught 3 shinies in the last 2 days. Just breeding and going into Friend Safari. I guess that getting shiny pokemon in these new games is more easy than never.

I didn't even think to chain in pokemon safari lol I'll have to try that today thanks jirachi! Font quote me on this, but I don't think the radar works in friend safari? I think Jirachi may have meant that the chances are better of just encountering a shiny in safari?

That's exactly what Jirachi meant. You cannot use the Pokéradar in a Safari because the Shiny encounter rate is much lower. The Fish Chain method is really easy, and takes no longer than 30 minutes if you get a chain early. Also, the method of using the Radar in Gen VI is MUCH more different than the previous generations when it comes to the rules you should follow.
I have collected about 5 shinies so far: Clawncher, Furfrou, Gogoat, Larvesta and Growlithe. My target is Ninetails in a Safari, which is where I go the Larvesta and Growltihe from.
