I actually find myself enjoying hacks rather than the original games especially if the hack has its own storyline. I also like if it is just plainly more difficult because the original games are not at all challenging. Another benefit of playing a hack is that you will most likely be given the ability to catch every single pokemon so you have lots of options for your team.

But then there's the ones that Creepypastas come from, and then I just sort of crawl int a ball and hope I never see any Pasta games again.

I really like Drayano's hacks specifically because he does DS hacks. I thoroughly enjoyed Blaze Black 2 and I'm at the elite four but I'm afraid they'll be crazy hard.
He managed to actually make me fear that I won't complete a pokemon game for the first time (Clay's Excadrill was almost the end of me with it's insane speed and swords dances but luckily my swampert's yawn sent it to sleep before it could sweep my whole team)
BTW What hacks did you make Jirachi, I'd be happy to check them out.

Nothing popular, I was half done about four years ago with a whole team working on it but we disbanded. It would've been awesome though! I'm also somewhat in the works of making a completely new game on a new engine, but I've post poned it cause XY came out and my game, even with BW graphics, looks terrible in comparison haha! I need to learn to run a 3D modeled engine, and then add all the pokemon and wow that'd be hard...

One hack that's still beta but I would like to see into a full game is Pokemon Toxic Purple. You play as a rocket grunt who starts with a rattata and you get a starter along with it. You can play through Lavender Town but that's about it.

I used to like the hacks, but then I took an arrow to the knee I don't like them anymore because of the movepools (I feel more like using the legal moves rather than the hacked ones) and the Gen 3 hacks are not that appealing to me.

Try the Volt White/Blaze Black series. They are pretty much the same game with ridiculous difficulty, you can catch any pokemon, stats for pokemon have been changed, types have been changed and movepools have been changed. The maker of it is actually quite smart with this because he boosts pokemon like farfetch'd while decreasing Emboar's special attack for more defence.

I played BlazeBlack2, but I don't really like it. I'm better using the originals even if they suck.

This is not a hack, but I really love it. Pokémon Raptor EX (based on Gen 4) is an awesome. It doesn't have the Pokémon stats, moves or abilities changed and that's what I like at it. You can even trade Pokémon (a bit complicated though). If you never heard of it, I recommend playing it. I'm playing of doing a Nuzlocke on it 'cuz it's pretty challenging.

The game that I have in production which is on hold because I'm lazy is much like this.

Most GBA hacks don't, all the DS ones do because we're rather limited on what we can change on DS. That's why custom engines are turning out to be more fun to play with.
